Alocasia zebrina Little Zebrina

Light: Thrives best in bright, well-lit environments; however, direct sunshine will burn the leaves.

Water: Warm water should be used to keep the compost wet.

Do not let the soil dry out. A small amount applied often is an excellent strategy.

Temperature: It must be kept warm, ideally between 18 and 22°C.

Humidity: Requires a wet environment with above-average moisture. Mist regularly while standing on a pebble tray to enhance moisture. Place it near the shower for a bit to give it a boost as needed. Perfect for kitchens and baths.

Feed: During the growth season, use a slow-release fertilizer once a month.

Care Tips: Alocasia has a latent phase during which the leaves fade and die, so don’t be frightened if this happens. During this time, the plants will require less water, so wet the soil as needed.

Height and rate of growth: 45-90cm. In the appropriate conditions, alocasia grows quickly.

Toxicity: These plants are toxic if consumed and cause skin and eye irritation. Keep out of the reach of youngsters and pets.

Origin: Southeast Asia.

Fertilizing: Improve soil fertility while the plant is actively developing by scraping some compost into two soil without disturbing the plant’s roots. Then, every two weeks, feed the plant a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer, such as fertilizer For Growing, diluted at a rate of 1 teaspoon/litre of water.
