Aeridachnis Bogor (1967) “Apple Blossoms”

🇳🇱🇺🇸 Aeridachnis Bogor ‘Apple Blossom’
(Arachnis hookeriana x Aerides odorata) (Originator Unknown; Reverend Masao Yamada, 1967).

First exported from Bogor, Java, in the late 1940s, this hybrid came to be known by its popular trade name ‘Apple Blossom’. Numerous and notably fragrant creamy white blooms appear three times a year, for up to a month each time.

During the 1950s ‘Apple Blossom’ was introduced as a commercial hybrid to orchid-growing countries around the Asia-Pacific, from Singapore to Hawaii, USA.
In 1967 it was finally registered from Hawaii by the renowned orchid breeder Reverend Masao Yamada, who gave it the formal name of Aeridachnis Bogor, honouring the place of its origin.

Aeridachnis Bogor is sold with a single plant in a clay pot.
