Parentage: Arachnis Maggie Oei × Vanda Doctor Anek.

With its rich magenta tones and majestic spike, this outstanding vandaceous hybrid captivated the judges with its exceptional floral symmetry, vibrant color, and vigorous root development. A cross between two iconic orchids—Arachnis Maggie Oei, known for its tall growth and prolific blooming, and Vanda Doctor Anek, famed for its bold, saturated hues—Aranda Bandarayaku is a true showcase of hybrid excellence.

Species Origin: Native to Mexico and Central America

This graceful species orchid, not a hybrid, is known for its tall, branching spikes adorned with star-shaped yellow flowers marked with rich chocolate-brown lips. Encyclia alata—also called the “Butterfly Orchid”—captivated the judges with its light fragrance, delicate form, and impressive floral presentation. As a naturally occurring species, it showcases the elegance that nature itself has perfected over time.

We proudly celebrate the Papilionanda ‘Chua Chu Kang, which secured 2nd Place at the prestigious SM/OSSEA 2025 Orchid Show.

With its vibrant magenta-pink blooms, excellent petal symmetry, and profuse flowering, this outstanding vandaceous hybrid captivated both judges and visitors. Its lush foliage and well-developed root system further demonstrate exceptional horticultural care.

Named after the historic orchid-growing district of Chua Chu Kang, this Papilionanda represents the enduring legacy and vibrant future of Singapore’s orchid heritage.
