Platycerium bifurcatum

Epiphytic fern with thick, forked foliar leaves and spherical base leaves that cling to the substrate. Dimorphic, densely clustered leaves; sterile base leaves sessile, not articulated to the rhizome, withering quickly but persisting for a long time, upright or appressed. Scales 1.5-11 mm 0.3-1.3 mm; rhizome short, concealed, with basally connected or peltate scales.

Care

It prefers bright, indirect light. Find the brightest area you have, but avoid direct sunlight as it can roast your plant. Water from below due to the hard shield leaves surrounding the root ball. Dunk in water for 10-15 minutes (less in cold) and drain well. Wait until the soil is dry before watering. Don’t leave it in water. The Common Staghorn Fern thrives in temperatures of 16-24°C. Keep your plant above 12°C at all times. Avoid drafts. These ferns prefer increased humidity. Mist often. Kitchen and bathroom plants.
